Synopsis: Based on the novel of the same name by Miguel Delibes, Rafael, a socialist politician, learns of the death of Víctor Velasco, a former friend and party colleague. In the cemetery, he meets Laly, an old colleague, and they both recall the political campaign they shared with Víctor over the Burgos province. In one of the villages, they met Mr. Cayo, an old man attached to the land, who becomes the voice of popular wisdom.
